A Sparkling New City Airport in China
Airport New City in Xi’an has a total planning area of 144.18 square kilometres, including 13.8 square kilometres free trade area. It’s one of the largest airport economic and free trade zones in China, having established the strategic orientation of “Four Centres” around the overall goal of building an international aviation hub, focusing on the development of aviation logistics, aviation maintenance, headquarters office, international convention and exhibition, cross-border e-commerce etc.
The T5 Station Integrated Business Area is located on the northeast side of Airport New City and has a planned area of 4.67 square kilometres. It focuses on fostering industries such as commerce, culture, health, entertainment, cutting-edge medicine and light manufacturing that match the airport economy.
In Xi’an Xianyang International Airport, one of China’s eight hub airports, 339 domestic and foreign routes were opened, covering the entire domestic economy, 47 cities and areas abroad. There exists three terminal buildings, and two 4F-class runways that can allow A380 and other large aircraft to take off. The fifth runways and five terminal layouts are planned to be built in near future.
Air Transportation: A two-hour flight from Xi’an Xianyang International Airport covers 75% of the country’s territory and 85% of its economy. In 2017, the annual passenger throughput was 41.857 million, and the cargo and mail throughput was 260,000 tons. In the future, it will handle 100 million passengers , and the cargo and mail throughput will be 2 million tons guaranteed.
The Airport New City project attracts 13 aviation enterprises including China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Air China, Hainan Airlines, Shenzhen Airlines, Sichuan Airlines, Tibet Airlines and Okay Airways. China Eastern Airlines – Safran Aircraft Landing Gear Deep Maintenance Base, Hainan Airlines Technical Components Maintenance and Merial Animal Vaccine Production Base and other 500 world projects have landed here. The Air Changan operations base has been completed and put into operation. Air Changan is a part of the massive Hainan Airlines group and operates Chinese domestic flights from Xian Xianyang International Airport in Shaanxi province.
