Farnborough International Airshow: Reports Record Demand from Global Aerospace Industry

Brookfield Aviation was pleased to attend the Farnborough International Airshow and was excited by the opportunities it presented. The show did not disappoint, providing an exceptional platform for everyone in the aviation sector. The enthusiasm and innovation on display were remarkable, and it was an amazing opportunity for networking and discovering the latest advancements in aerospace technology.

A record 2,862 commercial aircraft were ordered during the event, starkly contrasting the 1,266 orders at the Paris Airshow 2023 and the 441 orders at the FIA 2022. Boeing adopted a more restrained strategy, emphasising orders over extravagant displays, while Embraer displayed improvements in fuel efficiency. AAM, or Advanced Air Mobility, was one of the main talking points. With 27 international country pavilions, approximately 1,200 exhibitors from 44 countries participated in the airshow.

The Air Show served as a platform for highlighting new aerospace technologies. 1MILLIKELVIN demonstrated real-time, precise mechanical stress capture. AD Aerospace launched a 4K UHD aerospace camera, and the Aerospace Technology Institute hosted an immersive showcase with exhibits from leading UK aerospace organisations and innovative SMEs. A new concept model featured a larger wingspan delta wing, hinting at increased fuel capacity, longer range, and potentially higher payload and weapon-carriage capabilities.

‘The sharp rise in investment in the airline industry is a clear sign of how we should take advantage of networking opportunities, industry insights, and exposure to innovative innovations. We committed to using these relationships to support and develop in the space and aviation sectors, and we established key alliances and innovate in the aviation and space industries.’ says the Director of Business Development and Strategy of Brookfield Aviation Paul Osorio.

FIA’s CEO Gareth Rogers is eager to support the industry with future-focused change that will steer the trajectory of aerospace, space, and defence for the next decade. They are working with the global aerospace industry to provide opportunities beyond the 2024 airshow.

‘The Farnborough Airshow is an important event for aviation professionals like us. I got the opportunity to meet and connect with other professionals worldwide, which I could not have done otherwise. One of the highlights of the show was watching the F-15 perform its aerobatic maneuvers. The agility and precision of the performance were so spectacular. Farnborough Air Show is the place where we can witness the technology, expertise, and vision converge, setting the direction in aerospace advancements. Overall, my experience this year has been enriching, leaving me inspired and ready to push the boundaries of what is possible in aviation.’ says the V.P. of Brookfield Aviation Finance Anna Tran.

The airshow witnessed the global aerospace and aviation leaders return to Hampshire, United Kingdom, for five days of unrivalled opportunities to discover the latest pioneering technology and engineering, announce historic partnerships, build connections, and work towards the cumulative sustainable aerospace vision as an industry.

The show ends with FIA expressing gratitude for celebrating the milestone of 75 incredible years of pioneering aviation excellence and innovation! Since the first airshow in 1948, Farnborough has been at the heart of numerous aerospace achievements, creating a legacy of awe-inspiring moments that have shaped British and international skies.

They concluded by stating how they have celebrated this momentous occasion, and they hope everyone participating had a chance to explore Farnborough’s incredible heritage and experience the magic that has drawn aviation enthusiasts, industry leaders, and visionaries together from across the world.

Brookfield Aviation is committed to being part of this dynamic event in the coming years and to supporting the aviation industry in meeting and exceeding its demands, recognising the value of FIA in shaping the future of the aerospace industry. As we look back on our extraordinary history, we are also excited to look towards the future, unveiling what lies ahead after FIA2024 and beyond.
