The British Aviation Experience 2022
The restart of the British Aviation Experience, post-Covid, has been very successful. The British Aviation Experience 2022 hosted a group of students and chaperons from a Swiss school, College Alpin Beau Soleil.
This unique week-long residential course in the U.K. provided an insight into what it is like to work within the aviation industry. Students experienced many aspects of the life of an airline professional, pilot or aircraft engineer. This included flying lessons on light aircraft, helicopter, full-motion jet Boeing 737 / 747 and Airbus 320 simulators, air law, aviation communications, cockpit resource management (CRM), aircraft maintenance, safety, and emergency training. There was a course on self-defence training, visits to various companies within the aviation industry and lectures from aviation experts.
Aligning with College Alpin Beau Soleil’s ethos of educational trips across the world, the British Aviation Experience provided the students an individual learning experience whilst giving them the excitement of taking control and flying a light aircraft. Stuart White the college’s principal explains “We are always looking for exciting and educational experiences for students, and this course fits that perfectly”. The CRM instruction day introduced the students to a set of training procedures for use in environments where human error can have devastating effects. Used primarily for improving aviation safety, CRM focuses on interpersonal skills such as communication, leadership, and decision making in the flight deck and aircraft cabin. These lifelong skills will give the students the foundation of working together on a common goal in critical situations, in their personal lives, school and professional careers.
College Alpin Beau Soleil’s students and representatives exemplified the very best of what the younger generation can offer the greater global society. Brookfield looks forward to hosting the school again in 2023 and years beyond.
